Jim was A top-notch defensive outfielder and a hard hitter to all fields, was a lefthanded DH and occasional outfield replacement for the Royals in 1988. It's a wonder he was playing at all for he had been out of baseball for over two years with a rare neurological disorder that causes embarrassing body tics. Helped by medication, Jim started to play again in Kanasas City's farm system in 1987. He was leading the Southern Leauge in BA when the Royals brought him back in the majors in mid June 1980.
